The Dulwich Village Project

The Dulwich Village Project

Situated in the desirable Dulwich Village, this home belongs to a young professional couple with two small children. The invitation to transform a three-story, five bedroom Victorian House, into a family home that delivers ‘Practical Luxury’ was a dream project for His & Hers Renovations & Interiors.

‘Mr T’ wished for high end bespoke furniture whilst also wanting to reintroduce some classic features into the home. Such as wood panelling that we designed and installed for the entrance hall and the marble and limestone classic contemporary fireplaces that were installed in both the lounge and the dining room.

‘Mrs T’ desired hotel luxe living for her dream master bedroom along with beautiful elegant soft furnishings for the lounge such as the plush custom-made curtains and cushions as well as silk handmade faux flowers that we placed on the Tom Faulkner bespoke marble coffee table. She also wished for a modern contemporary kitchen with all the latest technology along with some practical storage solutions such as the boot room that we designed and installed in an unused small room to maximise storage and future proof the home.

Following our brief, we then encouraged the couple to allow us to be brave with colour after the couple had lived in a neutral beige palette for so long. Consequently we opted for an opulent Timothy Oulton teal sofa to add some opulence to the lounge and we used a midnight blue as an accent colour for the master bedroom.

We selected and customised every item of furniture, designed bespoke joinery and project managed every element of the renovation including the lighting design and electrical finishes., plumbing upgrades and decoration of this property; bringing in specialist installers where required.

The end-result was a stylish and luxurious classic yet contemporary family home, with a nod to its Victorian era in details such as the wood panelling, the original tiled entrance hall that we lovingly restored, the newly installed stone fireplaces.

The Canning Road Project

The Canning Road Project

Situated in a four-story period town house this large one-bedroom basement property had been abandoned for two years and was in a state of disrepair when we sourced it as an investment purchase for our client. Impressed by our property finding services the client also selected His & Hers Renovations & Interiors to Interior Design and project manage the extensive renovations on their behalf.

Our goal was to reinstate a few key original Victorian decorative features to reflect the building’s heritage. Therefore, we selected Victorian Style skirting boards, architraves and plaster cornice for the property as well as selecting a classic stone fireplace for the master bedroom. The client also wished to team these original features with a high spec finish in a neutral grey and white decor, as they intended for this investment to become a rental property that would go on to achieve a maximum rental yield.

By redesigning the internal layout we managed to add a second small bonus room suitable for an office or baby’s nursery by relocating the kitchen to the largest room creating a spacious open plan kitchen, living and dining space.
